Exclusion From The Scope Of Privatization

In line with the policies of improving the livestock breeding and raising the quality standards, and considering that Meat and Fish Institution shall be useful for the livestock breeding sector, Turkish Government decided to exclude the Meat and Fish Institution from the scope of privatization program in order “....to re-organise the Company and to take a regulatory and supporting role in livestock sector pursuant to the EU norms...” as stated in the 26/08/2005 dated and 2005/104 numbered decision of the Higher Board of Privatization. Also upon the decree which was published on the 06/10/2005 dated and 25958 numbered issue of the Official Gazette, the Institution became associated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. In the framework of this approval, name of the Institution was amended as Meat and Fish Institution (MFI) General Directorate and a new institutional charter was issued pursuant to the 233 numbered statutory decree .

The new charter was approved by the 24/07/2006 dated and 2006/T-25 numbered decision of the Higher Board of Planning which was published on the 17/08/2006 dated issue of the Trade Registry Gazette. The first article of the new charter designated its purpose as  “....to re-organise the Company and to take a regulatory and supporting role in livestock sector...” and expanded the scope of its activities to include promotion of the national livestock breeding and to assist its stable development”. Thus public duties are imposed to the Institution.
